Preferences¶
In the preferences window, you can change EV Studio settings: interface language, color scheme, location of various directories and auxiliary files, export options, etc.
The preferences window can be opened from the main menu:
- Windows: Edit → Preferences
- macOS: EV Studio → Preferences

General preferences¶

Language: EV Studio interface language. Russian, English and Chinese and Vietnamese languages are supported. The default language is Russian. To apply the settings after changing the language, you must restart the program.
- Color Theme: interface color theme. The automatic change between light and dark themes is supported both on Windows and macOS depending on the current settings of the operating system.
However, if a light theme is set in the Windows personalization settings, you cannot select a dark theme in EV Studio. If a dark theme is set in the Windows personalization settings, EV Studio can switch the color theme to the light one.
Temp files location: directory used to store temporary files. Temporary export files, temporary project files, etc. will be written to the specified directory.
Warning
Make sure that the user you’re using to work in EV Studio has access to read and write files to this directory. By default, the directory for the corresponding OS is selected.
Warning
When working on Windows, make sure that the path to the specified directory does not contain Cyrillic characters. The gradle build system used when exporting Android apps may not work correctly with paths containing Cyrillic characters.
Warning
Although the OS may provide the ability to automatically clean up the contents of the standard directory for temporary files, it is still recommended to clear it manually once in a while to avoid filling up disk space (temporary files can take up a lot of disk space when you repeatedly try to export large projects to mobile platforms).
Also, if you do not need to debug the internal structure of bundles when exporting to mobile platforms, you can enable automatic deletion of temporary files in the Export section.
Show news at launch:* Display EV Toolbox news and community events window.
Retina Support (Scene): When enabled, the resolution of the Scene graphics window in EV Studio is calculated in physical screen pixels (native resolution). Default enabled. To apply the change of this parameter, you must restart the program.
Retina Support (Preview): when enabled, the graphics window resolution in Preview is calculated in physical screen pixels (native resolution). Default enabled.
Note
Modern Apple computers (MacBook Pro, iMac, etc.) have a very high screen resolution (much higher than FullHD). For comfortable work in native resolution, a powerful graphics card is required. If you are experiencing performance issues, you can turn off Retina support.
When exporting apps for macOS you can optionally enable Retina support for your app regardless of the active settings in EV Studio.
Note
Windows OS always uses the native screen resolution.
