Case studies — Stereo photographs
The Satellite Communication 3D project was designed as an addition to the augmented reality Space Communication project.
This became an exhibition installation at Sviaz-Expocomm-2011, the largest annual trade exhibition, held in the Expocentre exhibition halls in Moscow on May 10–13, 2011.
The highlight of the exposition was the interactive «living 3D markers» augmented reality system on the glasses free 3D display. However, in order to entertain the visitors and attract more attention to the company’s stand, a sequence of eleven 3D space photos was created.
Nine pictures were initially taken in mono format, and then manually converted by us into 3D format using the depth map technology created specifically for viewing images on the glasses free Philips WOWvx displays.
Together with the 3D photos, we also created two separate three-dimensional images taken by virtual cameras, of the three-dimensional satellite models that we designed as a part of our interactive project.
Besides, we made an additional 3D slide encouraging the visitors to approach the installation and launch a «living 3D markers» augmented reality application.
All these photos are demonstrated on the glasses-free Philips WOWvx 3D display.
These three-dimensional photos will be available at exhibitions held by Russian Satellite Communications Company and at any time in EligoVision office.
